Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG launched in India, starting at ₹8.19 lakh, Maruti Suzuki launches a CNG variant of the Swift hatchback in India, priced between ₹8.19 lakh and ₹9.19 lakh, as part of its eco-friendly strategy after discontinuing diesel models. The goal is to sell six lakh CNG vehicles by FY 2024-25.

Maruti Suzuki India has officially introduced the much-awaited CNG variant of its popular and loved hatchback, the Swift, with prices starting at ₹8.19 lakh (ex-showroom) and going up to ₹9.19 lakh for the top-end model.

Following the discontinuation of its diesel offerings, the automaker has turned its attention toward CNG as a key component of its growth strategy, aiming to sell six lakh CNG vehicles by the end of FY 2024-25.

The new Swift CNG comes with a 1.2-litre Z series Dual VVT engine producing a maximum power of 69.75PS and 101.8Nm of peak twisting force. The old Swift CNG churned out 77.5PS and 98.5 Nm. However, the transmission option is the same as before, a 5-speed MT. It offers 6 per cent better mileage as compared to the last model at 32.85 km/kg, which makes it so far the best fuel-efficient premium hatchback.

This latest version of the Swift CNG is available in three variants: VXi, VXi(O), and ZXi. Under the hood, the Swift CNG is powered by a reworked 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, generating 80 bhp and 112 Nm of torque when running on petrol. In CNG mode, these figures drop slightly to 69 bhp and 102 Nm, while the car is claimed to deliver an impressive fuel efficiency of 32.85 km/kg, a six percent improvement over its predecessor. The engine is paired exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission.

The all-new Swift CNG comes with many amazing prices like a 7-inch Smart Play Pro infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, Suzuki connect suite, wireless charger, 60:40 split rear seats, electronic stability program, + (ESP) and hill hold assist.The car will initially be offered in Gujarat to meet the festival demand in the state.The new model can be booked with a monthly amount that begins at Rs 21,628.

In terms of design, the Swift remains largely unchanged from the petrol variant, featuring familiar exterior elements like LED projector headlamps, LED fog lights, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the car comes equipped with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and support for over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The addition of the ZXi variant marks a first for the Swift CNG lineup, expanding the choices available to potential buyers. Given the Swift’s enduring popularity in the Indian market, the new CNG iteration is expected to significantly contribute to Maruti Suzuki’s ambitious sales targets. By reworking the engine to optimize its compatibility with CNG, the brand continues to push for greener, more fuel-efficient alternatives while retaining the Swift’s established appeal.

The new Swift VXi CNG comes with a price tag of Rs 8.19 lakh; the VXi(O) CNG variant comes with an 8.46 variant and the ZXi variant is available at 9.19 lakh. All the Swift CNG prices are ex-showroom prices.

With the new launch, the carmaker expects a higher return from the Swift CNG in the new Swift. The company wants to meet their overall sales of 6,00,000 units in FY2025.Additionally, the delivery of this hatchback will commence this week in the state of Gujarat and will follow other states later.
